County Underage Update:

Connacht Championship’s continue.

U16 Update:

U16’s defeat Sligo to Make Connacht A final:

Our Kildea Concrete, James Irwin Construction, XLnt signs, Flemings Supervalu sponsored U16’s Defeated Sligo in Ballintober (St Croans) on Friday last by ten points in their final group match on a score line of 3-10 to 1-06 , a victory which now sets them up for a tilt at the A title when the face Galway this Friday at a venue and time to be confirmed. This is a remarkable achievement from this squad and indeed for Roscommon to have both the U16’s and the Minor’s qualify for Connacht “A” finals is truly a superb achievement and shows the progress that is being made at county level. Well done to all involved.

The Ros girls really got the job done in the first half playing with the aid of a stiff breeze the raced into a lead and goaled twice in the opening 15 minutes. A further goal before the break left them in an unassailable half time lead of 3-07 to 0-02. The second half was not as good an affair but with both sides ringing the changes it was bound to get scrappy. Roscommon will be a little disappointed with the overall second half performance but will still be pleased with some aspects of it, and indeed will take a lot of positives out of the game going forward to Friday’s final. Final score from Ballintober, Roscommon 3-10 Sligo 1-06.

Roscommon: Sasha Lavin, Shona Hanley, Megan Kelly, Emma Kildea, Megan McKeon, Jennifer Brennan, Aishling Walsh, Ellen Irwin, Michaela Keogh, Caoimhe Galvin, Kayleigh Shine, Aine Griffin, Emma Curran, Kate Harrington, and Oonagh Kelly,

Subs:, Edel Beirne, Sheena Kilroe, Kara Earle, Natasha Munnelly, Aimee O'Connor,

Saoirse Wynne, Kate McPhillips, Kelley Colgan, Kate Nolan, Sarah McVeigh Michaela keaveney, Holly Martin, Tia Cronin and Lauren Shanagher.

U14 Update:

The U14’s continued their development when the played in the national U14 Blitz on Saturday last in Rathleague Portlaoise. They girls put in sterling performances losing firstly to a strong Wexford outfit before beating Down and then losing out narrowly to neighbours Westmeath, but most importantly everyone had a terrific fun day out as they continue to show massive signs of improvement as the future looks bright for this talented squad. A big thank you to the management squad and the parents who looked after the girls for the day. Training and other blitz’s and challenge games will continue for this squad as they mould into both the U13 and U15 development squads.

The minors season takes a break for a while now as the leaving cert takes presidence at this time of the year, but training will continue for the squad during this period where their thoughts will be firmly focussed on their upcoming all Ireland “B” qualifier against Sligo which takes place on the 8th July.
