Jimmy Corbett RIP   01/04/2019

It was with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of the late Jimmy Corbett this weekend.

Connacht Ladies Gaelic Football would like to extend our deepest sympathies to,

his wife Sadie, daughters Michelle, Lorraine, Yvonne and Marie, sons Kevin, Damien, Michael, Declan and Brian, his extended family and of course to his adopted family, the Carnacon.Ladies Football Club.

Jimmy was an iconic figure in the LGFA.

Back in 1986 he founded Carnacon Ladies Gaelic Football Club and has managed that club to appear in nine All Ireland Senior club finals. They won six, the first in 2002 and that was repeated in 2007, 2008, 2011, 2013 and 2017.

The club are going for their 21st consecutive Mayo senior title in 2019.

Jimmy also spent a few years with the Mayo Senior Ladies.

Jimmy was a kind, caring person, an absolute gentleman in everything he did. He always had a smile on his face. Jimmy’s untimely passing has rocked the whole LGFA community and this is a loss that will be felt by many.

Remains reposing at Carnacon Community Centre on Monday evening from 4pm until 8pm. Private removal from his family home on Tuesday morning for funeral Mass at 12:30pm in St. Marys Church, Carnacon. Burial afterwards in Burriscarra Cemetery.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
